Every Springfield pistol I've seen without the "Brazil" marks on it, has had the one piece stainless barrel and stainless bushing. I'm sure you remember and relate your direct experiences correctly, but it does surprise to me to hear about it.
I have seen a lot of guns in my life as a pistol smith that were not the way the factory told us it would or should be.
