Looks like I misunderstood hand-grip. :-\
Any chance the original poster can take a few more pics? I'd like to see any battle scars it may have incurred.
It is pretty darn hard to budge. I'd make sure that I didn't want the A2 pistol grip first before I'd replace it. I used to put MOEs on my carbines without even really giving the A2 a fair shot. Now, I've dumped most of my aftermarket grips, going back to the standard A2 or Tango Down grip. The reason is that unless you have gargantuan hands and long fingers, your safety manipulation might get hindered....especially from certain positions. After this happened a few times with me, I realized that many of the components on these guns are GTG and should be left alone.
That is a great looking setup!
Did you go straight to the x300? or did you try other lights like the TLR-1 first?
A tip on loosening the conventional screw on the hand grip.
First, use a flat-tip screwdriver that completely fills the slot, of at least 10 inch length. The length of the screwdriver assists in torque.
Second, make sure the weapon is firmly secured in some fashion. This is so friggin' important.
Third, put a torque load on that sucker, and just keep it there for a moment. You might be surprised, and after a moment or two, the screw will turn on its own. If not, back off load after a bit and reapply, this time providing smooth uninterrupted increasing load on the handle of the screwdriver.
It's hard to explain, but an experienced mechanic will tell you that there is a distinct tactile "feel" for when a screw is going to start moving and when it's f'ing stuck. If it doesn't move, just keep the pressure up. Be patient, and it will give.
I think the DDM4 looks sweet, planning on doing the same thing. Nice build!
nice gun
Do you still have this rifle? How is the Omega X holding up?
