KAC Pistol?

I was just on the phone with my Uncle, and he mentioned years ago KAC had mentioned making a pistol. He also said Colt ruined it.

Was this a real gun? Is there any information on this gun at all? What became of it?

It was called the Colt 2000. I don't think Colt screwed it up as much as it wasn't that great of a design to begin with. I have handled one and was spectacularly unimpressed. Didn't get to shoot it though.

Our local PD has several that they were talked into for the SWAT years ago. They still have them in a locker, but use thier patrol Glocks. They didn't work is why they are in a locker.

I'm sure they would love to trade them in for some Glock 35's or patrol carbines.

I shot one of these back when they were new. Straight line trigger pull like a 1911, but really long, like double action revolver long. Heavy and very gritty too. Used a rotating barrel lock up like the the PX-4 uses today. I shot a couple hundred rounds without any malfunctions, but it was hard to see how accurate it was because of the trigger. Would make an interesting collector piece but you would probably only shoot it once just so you could say that you did.
