    MP15-22 Questions

I have a couple questions regarding an MP15-22.

First, I want to install a rear QD attachment on this rifle for my sling. What's the best choice? I thought Daniel Defense had a single rear QD mount that was two-piece and clamped around the (fake) buffer tube but I can't find it on their website (all I find is a twin side mount). Any other recommendations? Is the diameter of the 15-22 the same as a regular AR (I assume it is since the stocks interchange)?

Also, can someone make a recommendation on a reputable shop that can thread my barrel for a flash hider? By doing this will the hider still be removable or will the barrel be shortened enough that it will have to be pinned? HOw much should I expect to pay?

    Thanks,
    AR-15Tom

I can't answer your questions specifically about how the endplate and barrel threading will apply to the 15-22 however I think this is the DD plate you were looking

and you might want to email ADCO about the threading

AR, I was in the same boat as you. I ended up with the Midwest Industries MCTAR 13:

I used the Daniel Defense style before on my LMT and wasn't impressed. The MCTAR is a perfect option for the 15-22 as it tightens past the limits of the stock tube on the 15-22.

Here's a Flickr album I made of the MCTAR.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks guys.

mcnamara, I did a search and Midwest makes a QD mount called the MI #30 that looks like it will work for my purposes.

When looking at your Flickr pics, I couldn't tell if you had to install anything between the buffer tube and the mount. Did you?

    You're rifle looks really good.

AR, I didn't have to install anything between the tube and the mount. It's a really good stock fit (if you'll excuse the pun).

    Also, thanks for the compliment.

the dd mounts will not fit the 15-22. There is a little pin on the bottom that locks the mount on regular AR's. The buffer tube on the 15-22's is filled in. All of the midwest industries mounts will work just fine.

I also used a zip tie for a little while. Suprisingly worked very well.
