    FN SLP Shotgun`

I am thinking of purchasing a shotgun for home defense and 3gun comps. Anyone have or know about the FN SLP? I am looking for some firsthand insight on the operation of the shotgun. Good, reliable, solid action, etc. Thanks

After owning Remingtons and Bennelli's, the FN SLP has been the best of the bunch.

    They are popular in 3gun.

    Amac,

Hey bud. If you are going to the three gun with us this weekend Fishingfool runs one and I am sure he wouldn't mind you checking it out.

Cool. I still don't have a shotty for this. I saw one over the weekend and it looked sweet. Then saw one on the EE. Very tempting.

If it fits your LOP and you like the sight picture its a great out of the box 3 gun shotgun. I love mine but there are some things to keep in mind.

there is no easy way to shorten LOP. there is a recoil rod thingy in the stock that dictates its length.

although its well balanced, since it has a straight wall barrel its pretty heavy compared to a vent rib.

the folding rear sights are great when you need to make slug shots. The canitlever scope mount is a love/hate thing. when the rear sight is folded down it acts like a big rear U sight which can be good or bad depending on the situation.

    Aftermarket parts are limited.

Its touted as the fastest cycling shotgun and I believe it. Its just fast.

It was heavy, now that you mention it. The 22" barrell is what I looked at. I think it holds 7+1. The front had fiber optic, which was nice. I didn't know what to think of the rear U. May take getting used to. I was looking at out-of-the-box functionality. The standard stock was comfortable - reminded me of my duck gun. But, for tactical stuff, I'd prefer the pistol grip. Are there any aftermarket stocks for the FN?

And the dirtiest... It is a real gem to clean.

$10 says some jackwagon brings up 922r.
