Short of cost due to not having a proper pistol extension I don't see a reason to run one. Plus it adds length to the firearm. (Not knocking the idea.)
I would make damn sure that extension can not accept a stock, or be readily converted to accept one with out having a Form 1 for it.
You'd also need to run a rifle buffer, as a carbine buffer would allow a huge amount of over-travel in the bolt. Even with that you would likely want some type of spacer behind it to limit the travel.
The weight of the rifle buffer running hard into the bolt catch would mean a nice clean break of that part.
