If $900 is the max, IMHO, I'd look at an S&W M&P 15 MOE. I'd do what I could to get it with sights but with the MOE Handguard, it should give you options for light, slings, etc. until ready to "move up".

    S&W MOE w/ Sights

I understand not wanting to build a gun for your first time. This S&W route should be a great starter gun if you really get into AR's. It's OOS right now, so just don't get impatient, A good gun is worth the wait.

    But maybe it's just me...

You can get a DD XV for $935-950 shipped if you shop around...

Then there is the Spikes lower and BCM upper - combo that is hard to beat...

Or the Spikes Carbine - or even a Middie for just over $800.

But the DD gets you a Cold Hammer Forged barrel for under $1000 - if that means anything...

    Trolling?

As I am not sure, I reply to you that both Bushy and Stag are plinker guns and are not of the quality level necessary for responsible people to use to defend themselves, their families or others.

Please consider one of the following instead:

    BCM
    Colt
    Daniel Defense
    LMT
    Noveske

Getting a good one does not cost all that much more than getting a crappy one. IF you need to save for another 6 months before making the purchase, then I would encourage you to do so.

    Good luck!

    BCM

Get a BCM 14.5 middy and be done with it. It’s a great product as a reasonable price. Don’t have the coin yet? Buy the lower, save more coin, buy upper.

While you're doing your research, make sure you check out other forums. Opinions vary from discussion group to discussion group. You'll have to judge for yourself the level of expertise displayed, but IMHO you might want to be careful taking advice from any one venue as gospel.

And on some sites you might find a little more arrogance and self-satisfaction than others.

^^Yep. They are not all equal. A little thing called QC comes into play. I also think the list is not right.
