Thanks brother, today I was indeed using the 18" SS. I don't reload so I'm relegated to using just the factory commercially avail. ammo. Generally speaking anything under 700yds. and Ive found a number of different types of ammo will at least accurately and consistently make hits on steel ranging from 55gr. vmax to 75gr. HPBT. I actually shoot a ton of Hornady 55gr. vmax in the range of 600-700yds with at least a 90-95% hit rate even though it's pretty anemic once it hits the steel.(I'll post a video w/ the vmax on steel @ 753yds at the end of this reply)
Past 700yds and with any wind over 10mph present, Ive found that you really do have to go with the super duper MK262 mod 1 as it's superior to all else Ive tried when really trying to push the 5.56 envelope. I just think so many folks waste money on it only to shoot at a max distance of 600yds and in, and it's really not needed at that range since the 68gr. hpbt, 69gr hpbt/smk, and 75gr. hpbt loadings are really perfect for that territory and you can buy the PRZI/PPU match stuff for $10-12 per box. Even though I only had 6 rds. of the MK 262 yesterday morning(landed the 5th), I'm pretty sure now when I return maybe this afternoon I will have my dope down and hopefully will be able to put it on the target right away and get some real footage w. more than 1 hit
Mythbusting: .223 55gr.(vmax) ammo at long range
9mm I put together Friday. Upper from Aim Surplus, spikes lower. Spikes mag block, c products mag. Stock came from my sig556ER. Primary Arms m4 red dot I wasn't using.

I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate and I picture us invading that world because they would never expect it.
a little video action from a recent range trip. plus the lesson learned, again.
