Also true, but my signature states what most pros think of mounting optics on forearms. I'm not saying there's anything against "gamers" as I've learned a ton from them watching and shooting at local matches. Mounting optics (not irons) on forearms just isn't a smart move to me.

Has anybody put together a 16" mid-length with a DD Omega 9 and either Magpul XT or XTR rail panels? I'm mocking up some mods for my Sabre mid-length in Photoshop and clear side-aspect images of that particular config are hard to come by.

That's good, thanks. My upper is a factory SDI. I'd like to see how the regular XT panels look also. Seems like most people are moving away from them to get XTRs.

Why doesn't anybody put covers on the top handguard rail? Is it just unnecessary?

I never put my digits up on the top rail. Ladders are good enough for me.

How many XTR rail kits wee used on your hand guard ?

It takes 5 packages worth of XTM panels for a 9.0 larue/middy rail. Each package has 8 pieces and makes 4 panels, which is enough to covers about 6 inches.
