I had a bass-ackwards MBUS, and I blame Stick! I looked off of one of his pics on the website and installed the sight accordingly. Curiously, I could find the direction nowhere in the printed instructions, nor any guidance on how to jump off of said bridge.
I installed mine backwards initially too and I dont think that functionally there's much of a difference with either orientation. An aperture works no matter which way you look through it. Mounting it backwards does limit how far back you can mount your primary optic though.
