    M16A4 clone

I'd like to build an M16A4 clone with a BCM 20" Government Profile Upper and had some questions. BCM web site says Coming Mid 2009.

Anyone else have 20" M16A4 build? Can I take a fixed stock and mount it on a LMT Defender lower? If so, which fixed stock should I get?

    Recommendations for a FF rail?

If you are going to build an M16A4 clone, then you will need a rifle length buffer tube, buffer and spring as as well as an M16A2 fixed buttstock.

I don't have an M16A4, but I am familiar with it having been exposed to the weapon in the military. It's basically an M16A2 with a flat top receiver, Knight's rail system, Knight's VFG, rail panels, AN/PEQ-2, Surefire M951 (might be a different light), and an ACOG TA31-RCO.

Sure you can mount a fixed stock to any lower, just remove the carbine buffer tube and screw on the rifle buffer tube and stock. Just get a normal M16A2 stock...

A real A4 is not free floated, it uses the Knight's Armament M5 RAS and accessories. However if I were to install a free floating rail and deviate from a strict clone, I would go with a LaRue because I'm a LaRue junky and the "feel" of the rail with pannels is really close to a Knight's.

    Doesn't Sabre Defense make a 20" A4 type upper?

Heh...well I got divorced from my first wife a year ago and got out of Iraq 2 years ago, so no hell for me!

    Good info, thanks.

    Where can I purchase online?

    - rifle buffer tube
    - M16A2 stock

would this work? Milspec Receiver Extention for M16 Rifle (Rifle Buffer Tube)

would I also need a rifle buffer and spring, or would the one that comes with the LMT Defender work?

    f.2,

You will need a RIFLE buffer tube (aka lower receiver extension) not a carbine one. You will also need a RIFLE buffer and spring, as they are different from a carbine. You can try our sponsors here GandRtactical or Bravo Company.

You will need that buffer tube you have linked there, a rifle length recoil spring, a rifle buffer, and the actual A2 stock. Then you'll reap the sweet benefits of a rifle type operating system (next to no recoil).
