    300 AAC BLACKOUT

Just a survey of existing bullets that people may normally wonder about. It is clear that some new bullets should be developed to be optimal for this velocity range.

Great info...the 110g Vmax looks like a great HD load. I noticed that was 16" barrel, could it be safely driven to ~2100 or more in a 10.5"?

The .300 AAC Blackout/Fireball/Whisper has great potential, but is absolutely in desperate need of purpose built bullets, as most 30 caliber bullets are designed for the much higher velocities of .308/.30-06/.300 Win Mag and are not optimally performing at the lower velocities.

Ideally an early upsetting, barrier blind loading of around 100-110 gr or so with about 13-16" of pen and good weight retention would be introduced. Until then, the 110 gr VMAX is probably the least bad option of the less than ideal performing bunch noted.

Before I had the gel test done I polled people and only 9% picked the 110 Vmax as the best supersonic bullet. It is interesting to compare the actual results to what people thought before the results.

Is the Hornady 123gr V-max purpose built enough for 7.62x39?

The info I can find is on the Hornady LE website, a bare gel pic that looks about the same as the 110 Vmax.

I'm looking forward to the barrier blind load but I also think there is room for a hunting/entry/HD load that does not need to perform against a windshield.

I've only seen the one bare gel test at MV, what happens at 100 yards and a few hundred less fps?

In supersonic, I'm curious what (if) are the advatages to this cartridge over the 6.8 SPC?
