All the above are sitting in my shop at the moment I can't wait till I get this 18 precision project together for (just punching holes in paper). I was contemplating the geissele rail today actually. Whats your take on the rail, syrac adj. gas block, and the 18in shilen? Also how much use you got out of them?
All the parts are top notch and come together to make a great shooting, and very solid rifle. The adjustable gas block isn't really needed with an 18" rifle-length gassed barrel, but it does give you the ability to gas it down to a point there is zero recoil either with the can or without it. I'm watching my shots impact at 300 because the gun just doesn't move. I love the Geissele rail. It's well machined and well thought out. It's very rigid, which was perfect for this build.
Here's a few groups using Hornady 75gr BTHP hand loads @ 2750fps:
100 yards
300 yards
The rifle is a flat out shooter and the only real limit as far as I can tell is me sitting behind it. You'll be more than happy with a similar setup.

I believe thecolter and onyx are who convinced me of the shilen and I'm most grateful because that barrel is amazing. Mine loves 73gr berger bthp. This is the last time I shot this gun and I posted it in another thread a while back.
A little side note: when I shot this it was during an almost unprecedented cold spell here and when I finish shooting all those rounds, I was so cold I admittedly jumped in my truck and drove to the target to get it. Fast forward 6 weeks: I'm sitting at my house and 2 game wardens show up at my house like they're ready to raid my place. One young lady in training and another guy. Anyway instead of saying something to me the guy over at the pistol range video taped me driving. I always take care of the game land range and put targets in middle of backboard etc. Just this one day It cold combined with some laziness. So, this target ended up costing me big money. Not sure if it was worth it or not until II find out exactly how much.haha

That was the thread(18in precision rifle gas thread) I read also Dirty boy, and I knew it was Mr.onyx but I didn't realize Mr.Colter that spoke so highly of the shilen, as so many others seem to also, I must admit all three of you helped guide me that direction months ago.(thank you guys for such factual non-biased information that's why I've came to like this forum so much in recent years)I don't seem to see as many others speaking as highly of the Douglas even though its defiantly good enough for what it was designed for. I also saw where you posted that target in the moa Challenge Dirty boy, sorry to hear it cost you a chunk of change I hope they understand it was just a honest mistake. Thank You so much dirtyboy,Onxyz, and thecolter. All of yow have helped me more than you know. Now I've just got to get around to telling Pappabear, Markm, and Molon the same. The way all of you have presented data and info, in this hobby of ours... well lets just say its more professional than I've seen others present facts at their Jobs!
Beautiful rifles here....
