A question for you 1-4X users...

Do you find that you use just a few magnification settings on your 1-4x scope? For example, do you find yourself using the lowest setting for the close work but as soon as you want/need more magnification, you just crank it all the way up to 4x?

If not, how do you decide what setting to use? Is it something that you need to think about when running-and-gunning?

Just curious about how much of the in-between zoom range is commonly used...

Ive been using a Short-Dot since early 2008, and I generally go between 1.1X with the dot and 4X.

Typically it's either 1x or 4x on my TR24. Nothing used in between..

Same as the others....I have a 1.1-4x Kahles CSX on my 6920 and it's either set at 1.1 for most all use, or crank it up to 4x for anything past 100 yards.

I've never found much use for 'TweenX power on my accupoints. I experimented with 2 and 3 a little bit when I got my first TR21, but beyond that, never.

Yeah I noticed the same thing. Makes me wonder why more manufacturers haven't made a scope that serves that need. I know the IOR Pitbull does, but it doesn't seem to be all that popular.

Meopta K-Dot purchased for 3 gun. 98% of the time its 1 or 4, but occasionally I will end up somewhere in between depending on target size and distance for a particular stage.

It depends on what I am doing. I typically try to use as little magnification as possible. I have found that magnification is both your friend and your enemy. The wide FOV is great when at low magnification, but the narrow FOV and the extra perceived wobble in your sight picture at high magnification really suck. I usually use 1x on 100 and under depending on target.

I'm running a Leupold MR/T and I keep it on 1.5 almost all the time, However, I found setting it at 2x when doing a barricade drill where the target is out past 75-yards, (1/4 scale steel IDPA) help me pick up the target faster and easier when I'm laying on my face shooting through the bottom section...YMMMV
