Indeed, the MRP is not compatible with the VTAC because the upper receiver and handguard are all a giant single piece of aluminum. This obviously gives superior strength and rigidity. ETA, but one of the extremely groovy things about the MRP is is that you can (relatively) quick-change barrels on it. Allowing you to run multiple barrel lengths or multiple calibers in the same gun (although the alternate barrels available are fairly limited selection-wise from LMT).BTW... the LMT MRP is a complete upper system developed by Lewis Machine Tool.
