Generally speaking, I'm inclined to agree. The problem is, the M&P being the exception, that there aren't too many 4140 barrels that are also chrome-lined. I would guess that if a maker is going to try to save money on the barrel steel, they're also going to want to save money on the chrome-lining.

I'd also put out the caveat that while I may not be opposed to a chrome-lined 4140 barrel, I would be hugely opposed to paying a 4150 price for it.

To be honest I can't remember if they are chrome lined. I'm inclined to believe they are, but can't say for sure.

Those are a long ago discontinued part (17 years ago). They used a bobbed disconnector and the spring was located in a different location. Not the best parts to use, and not something found in Sully’s rifles.

Rob_S do you have the newest version of the 'The Chart' with ADS and KAC ? The one on the first post in this thread is dated a little.

I took ADS off because I was having a hard time nailing some of the facts down, and frankly they don't seem to really be widespread enough that people would encounter them in a gun shop or at a gun show.

KAC hasn't made it on yet. I'm still talking with Trey and waiting to see what the production models will have in the way of features (i.e. shot peening and a few others) before I add them.

Hopefully the fact that the chart here has an "old" date on it means that it's relatively correct for the brands it shows. Either that, or people have gotten bored with the subject.

I don't think it will ever be boring, Rob.

There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth from those worshiping at the Altar of Good-As.

There will be those decrying it for errors, that never provide corrections or references.

There will be someone that says, "thanks, I never knew that."

And that makes it worthwhile.
