This demonstrated the new bolt hold-open feature that is available. Now I am almost completely sold. The only thing I worry about now is the .22lr somehow damaging my 5.56 bbl. I dont know if it can/will or not...
I've shot many, many rounds of .22 through a 5.56. My barrels are chrome lined.
.22 will not hurt the barrel. Make sure you clean it after shooting and I advise using copper was ammo. It doesn't leave as much lead and gunk.
I also run a Boresnake through while the barrel is warm and shoot 5 rounds of 5.56 through the barrel to blow the gas tube out.
Clean properly when you get home.
The military has used .22 conversion kits for years in 5.56.

Shadow,
That is very interesting, I never knew the military used .22 conversions for 5.56. You learn something new every day!
There were a couple different versions.
Google M261 for info.
Here is one that was for sale

If I would've known a month ago they were going to come out with an entire 22 rifle, I wouldn't have gotten the S&W 15/22. oh well I am still happy with mine.

i was one of the early adopters of CMMG's evolution products and see that many many improvements have been made.
Would you say its worth selling my current stuff (bought a full quebec rifle in SS) when it first came out just to have all of the new neat features?
Most of them you can simply add on.
What exactly were you looking to up grade?
