With my white walls, and since I keep my RDS units turned relatively low, I try and keep them under 200 lumens. Washing out with electronic sights is a bigger deal, and no matter how much I try and train it, transitioning from finding an obvious glowing red dot to using irons isn't as quick for me.
A lot of it has to do with how you're using the light. Constant-on isn't usually the best solution, so consider that as well.
