Bravo Co. 18" SS barrel with rifle length gas system.

I was considering a BCM SS410 18" barrel (1/8") with a rifle length gas system and either the VLTOR VIS 12", the VTAC TRX 13", or the PRI 12" Carbon Fiber.

Can anyone testify to the accuracy of the BCM SS410 18" barrels? Are they comparable to the Larue Stealth Sniper barrels? (3/4 MOA?)

I also wanted to know if anyone has used either the VIS 12" or the TRX 13" and can comment on their weight.

I prefer monolithic uppers, but on this upper I don't need rail space, since the only thing I will be mounting besides BUIS/optics is a bipod.

BCM's SS410 barrels I believe are made by Krieger (Centurion), although I don't think BCM discloses this information.

I have one BCM SS410 16" barreled upper, and although one barrel is not a representative sample, it's a 3/4" rifle at 100 yards if I do my part (which isn't often enough).

Mine has averaged .97" at 100 yards over 200 rounds (shot in 10-round groups) of 69 grain SMKs that I handloaded with 24.0 grains of RL-15, CCI-400 primer and once fired LC brass. This includes all my "called flyers", improper wind doping, etc., and is limited by my skill and possibly the quality of my reloads, not the mechnical accuracy of the weapon.

I believe if the rifle were driven better, it could in extreme cases put 10 rounds in <.5", but probably not average that consistently. I have a few of these groups out of my 20, where one or two rounds opened up a group that would've averaged .5"-.6" (and were either definately or probably my fault).

I have the 18" BCM SS410 Ion Bond and it is a true sub MOA barrel. I have been able to regularly shoot groups less than an inch at 100yards and less than two inches at 200 yards. In fact the best performance so far was two back to back 5 shot groups less than an inch at 200 yards. So that's a little better than half MOA.

While I don't have a LaRue Stealth I do have a 16" DD upper with the Lothar Walther LW50 barrel that LaRue uses in their Stealth uppers. It is a very good shooter capable of sub MOA accuracy with match ammo also. You can't go wrong either way, but I would highly recommend the BCM.

Not to split hairs, but isn't Krieger part of Criterion?

Centurion is a completely different outfit specializing in CHF barrels.

    Love my BCM 18" SS410 and I believe it's a tremendous value.

Yes, I mis-spoke. Criterion, not Centurion.

Might want to look at the DDlite 14,and the Mega rifle length billet mono rail.

I really like the monolithic VLTOR VIS, as I have the 9" one on my 14.5" mid-length; however I was concerned about the overall weight with the 12" VIS, especially since I won't be using the rails except for the bipod/optics.

I haven't read any reviews of the PRI 12" carbon fiber, so I was leaning towards the VTAC TRX 13"....

JP is doing a 15 or 15.5" tube now too. If I get a 18" BCM SS410 that's what I'll be using on it.

I've used/owned the VIS, PRI, and TRX.

Of those three, I now only own the TRX. Each of my TRXs is the 13".
