Smile A new AR15 is born...

Well, I just completed my first custom AR build.

I'm extremely happy with the way it's turned out and it was one hell of a learning experience.

Here is the parts list and pictures...

    Lower:
    POF Lower Receiver
    RRA Lower Parts Kit
    RRA Two-Stage Trigger
    Ergo Grip
    LMT Mil-Spec Buffer Tube w/ H2 Buffer
    LMT Stock
    CQD Sling Mount

    Upper:
    VLTOR MUR-1 Upper Receiver
16.1" Noveske Rifleworks RECON 5.56mm 1:7 Twist Barrel w/ MP Tested Matching Bolt
    Rock River Arms Bolt Carrier
    VLTOR Gas Block and Tube
    LaRue 11" Railed Handguard
    Smith Enterprise "Vortex" Flash Hider
    Tango Down Vertical Grip

I've got the whole process documented over at my forum if anyone wants to see it. Here's the link :

Nicely done. how much of the 11" LaRue Rail is over the Mid-length gas tube?
In no way do I make any money from anyone related to the firearms industry.

    Thanks!

    I'm really happy with it.

I had originally ordered a 10" Larue, but the 10" will not completely cover the gas block. So I called Larue and sent it back... Larue went above and beyond the call of duty and sent me a 11" handguard out right away. So the 11" covers the gas block completely and goes past it by about 1/2 inch.

Nobody has realized that the LaRue handguard's Anti-Rotation Device normally does not fit on the MUR yet...

Will modifying the anti-rotation device make it work or is it completely unusable?

Nice build - your weapon is begging for some Troy sights and a decent optic.

Once modified, the LaRue ARD works fine.

Grant has also mentioned that future MUR's should be changed to accomodate the LaRue ARD without modification.

Randall did an excellent job modifying the Larue "keeper" for me, it's a perfect fit.

Here are some pics of the modified keeper during the upper build...

    Smile just an update...

Just thought I'd give a quick update. It's officially finished. I've added the Aimpoint ML3 2MOA and the Aimpoint 3X, along with 2 LaRue mounts... The LaRue Cantilever CompM2 LT-129 for the ML3 and the LaRue QD Pivot Mount LT649-30 for the Aimpoint 3X. Also added the Troy front and rear sights...

First official range trip will be this Friday... I've only put 10rds through it when test firing it, from my backyard.
