Id like to switch over to the MP5 drum, is it a matter of swapping the whole rear sight assembly, or just the drum or what? Anything besides a screwdriver required? The HK tool?

You "can" swap just the drum if you have a HK took or a hemostat, you can also launch a bunch of spring loaded pins if you aren't very careful.

For most beginners I recommend they swap the entire rear sight, only need a Philips head screwdriver. There is a ball detent and spring on the bottom so make sure you don't lose those.

Update: 2000 trouble-free rounds through the K model, no malfunctions of any kind. 90% of ammo used was crappy Monarch brass cased.

Still waiting on NFA process

In order to make your K into a LEGAL rifle (if you mean adding a stock) you need to get a tax stamp.

Unless your K has a 16 inch barrel, you cannot just add a stock and compliance parts.
