I was under the impression that if you added a front pistol grip and/or added a stock, it must be SBRed. Is that right? That's what I've heard.

Ya I knew the stock was had to be SBRed, but my question is more about the pistol grip with no stock on it? Still legal without SBRing it?

I don't believe so unless you register it. It might qualify as a AOW. I would post the question in the NFA forum.
Ok, that clears everything up. Thanks

If memory serves, AOWs are $200 to make (if you're not a manufacturer), and $5 to transfer. If you're doing one on a Form 1, there's no reason not to do an SBR. If you're buying one from a manufacturer/dealer, then you do save $195 going the AOW route (though for the life of me, I can't see what an AOW does that an SBR doesn't do better...)
Cyril: Oh now that's a breach of trust!
Lana: Do you really want to open this can of trust-breachy worms after I just found you and my ex-boyfriend with a dead hooker in the trunk?
Cyril: ...I do not.
