    Thumbs up

    @ Robb:

I was looking to build a "Kino" configuration carbine from a BCM upper/lower combination, but I intended to suppress it.

Why do you recommend the 11.5 over the 12.5 for suppressor use?

Is it just for overall length reasons?

    Thanks!!

Length. Either will suppress just fine but the 12.5" Kino will be longer than a 16" AR.

That's what I was thinking. I plan on running a suppressor on mine.

I'm using quality parts for this build, not extreme high end, but not cheap either. Mostly bcm, Troy, and spikes. And I'm not sure if I will be putting a suppressor on it right now, but I am planning on putting either the sw556 on it or the BC 2.0, so I atleast have the option later. And how much reliability issues are we talking about with a 11.5 vs. 12.5? I'm willing to live with it if it's not that big of a deal. I just though of this too, are they anymore ammo picky then any other rifle?

    Hmm.

You can't really predict reliability issues based on barrel length, there are too many other factors and no two situations are exactly the same. I have a 10.5 MRP CQB and couldn't be happier with the performance suppressed or not. I have about 1000 rounds down the pipe, about half suppressed, mostly Wolf 55 gr and it has performed beautifully.

I just ordered a 12.5 for mine. I figured I needed an all around general purpose rifle much more than I needed an ultra compact rig. I'm not clearing any rooms or jumping out of vehicles. 12.5 has plenty of range for civillian needs, including the kind of hunting I would likely be doing (Coyotes and Boar). So, for my needs, a 12.5 5.56 barrel is a good fit.

If I did feel the need from something shorter, 6.8 or .300 BLK are looking pretty good to me.

12.5 is an awesome all-around setup

Well damn, I was kind of all set on an 11.5 but now y'all got me thinking about a 12.5. But I also have a 16" rifle, so if I'm going short, I might as well go 11.5 right? DAMNIT! WHAT TO DO!!
