Should I stick with this config?

    Opinions please-

    Here's my 11.5" and my 9mm:

Now the Colt RO635 barrel and the TROS thread adapter and the flattop receiver from the 11.5" under the DD 10.0 M4 rail:

I ordered a flattop 9mm upper from Steve just a bit ago along with a new delta ring kit for the 11.5"

I plan on putting standard M4 handguards back on the 11.5" 5.56 rifle along with a traditional FSB (although I can't put the original back on.) I cut it to fit under the 10.0. I have a set screw FSB I will try and hopefully that goes well...

    What'd'ya think?

    You suck.............j/k.

For your FSB that you 'shaved' to fit under the rail, Bushmaster sells a folding front sight that mounts around it. It's pricey ($106 IIRC) but works fairly well for a back up sight. I think ADCO will put a new FSB on your barrel if requested, but in the long run it may just be easier to get a new barrel with a FSB already on it.

Yeah, I've seen that YHM sight first hand and don't like it at all.

I'm planning on using stock M4 handguards and would like to have a standard M16ish front sight base.

It's crossed my mind to have Steve affix a new FSB to this one. But, I've got a set screw FSB for a SS barreled upper I bought from him 3 years ago (his first DMM4 rifle) and it's been pushed back a few times- just enough to close the gas port enough to cause short stroking.

I'm sure if I told him the problem, he could figure out a way to center up a new undrilled on, drill new holes, tap the FSB and really get those screws in there permanently...

I'd just replace the 11.5" with a BCM barrel when available or have a Colt or LMT 14.5" cut and open up the gas port to 11.5" specs. Nothing really wrong with a set screwed gas block (covered by rail) as long as it's bedded in green Loc-Tite (for accuracy, won't string rounds at distances) and the set screws dimpled into the barrel (won't shoot loose)......you can also have it pinned.

What does FSB mean? (front sight base?) I am just guessing.

yeah no kidding derek. That can on the end of the 10.0" inch 9mm barrel with TROS thread adapter shows me almost what a can on the 11.5" and same handguard would look like.

I'm very tempted but it's the end of the season now...

And, the BCM upper is going back to M4 handguards like Robb's. You've got a nice BCM 11.5" don't you GotM4?

The 9mm RRA upper I ordered from Steve just came in. Time to go to the garage...

At $160 you would think this thing would be made of gold.

It's pretty nice though. The 9mm deflector is brand spanking new and very tight. No wobble or wiggle. Not chewed up from hot brass either. The port door snaps in solidly too. I can't even barely pop it back out with my finger. Polar opposite of the BCM upper. That port door won't stay shut. Anyone know any fixes for that? If you slide your stock back it will pop open...
