    300 AAC vs. 7.62X39

The 7.62X39 seems to be within about 5% power wise of the 300 AAC. With all of the options available in the market when it comes to 7.62X39, is it ever going to be worth going over to the 300 AAC? Is there something magic about the 300 AAC?

To me, it seems the "magic" of the 300 blackout round is that you get a .30 caliber round out of your AR, and all you need is a new barrel. Existing BCG, magazines, etc. already work, for a round that (again, from what I have READ) is supposed to improve CQB lethality of the AR platform.

Do you want an AK or AR? The answer to my question should answer your question.

I like the .30 cal round , and I've got a Colt 7.62X39 upper. I was just wondering about the 300 AAC.

There are issues feeding the 7.62x39 round into an AR upper. The 300 BLK does not have these issues, can be used with only a barrel swap, and is SAAMI standardized.
We appreciate those who stand by and support us. They are true patriots. We have to question the motives of those who continue to tear us down on this forum. They cannot stop us. Their petty feeble minds are easily exposed. The XCR will gain momentum until it covers the whole earth. There is no other platform like it and it is the best.

In terms of power they are similar.

The advantage of the 300 BLK is:
    - Developed for the AR system- in terms of fit and cycling
    - Factory ammo fits 30 rounds in standard 30-round 5.56 mags with no mods (including GI mags, PMags, etc)
    - Case head the same as 5.56, taper the same as 5.56 (not as angled as 762x39)
    - Uses a standard 5.56 AR bolt, carrier, etc
    - ONLY change needed to a 5.56 gun is the barrel

Plus, the 300 BLK uses .308 caliber bullets which makes variety and availability very good for reloaders, unlike with 762x39.

And part of the development for 300 BLK included reliable and safe subsonic options for real quiet suppressed operation. That is another nice option.

Todd from Noveske choreographed the 123 grain Remington ammo as 2345 fps from a 16 inch Noveske barrel. One of our customers got 2360 average from an AAC Model-7 barrel. Both of these are higher than what Remington claims - but we wanted to publish a spec that was conservative and was easily made by the shipping product.

7.62x39mm, averaging some data I saw posted around the interweb, is about 2250 fps from a 16 inch barrel. I know the spec for 7.62x39 is supposed to be faster than that, but it seems to be loaded mildly in practice.

Where the 7.62x39 wins is available ammunition, and price of ammo. If you've seen a PWS Diablo in 7.62x39 run in F/A then you know feeding issues can be resolved. When loaded brass cased ammunition comes down to $0.30/rd I'll throw my x39 barrels out the window and get 2 blackout barrels to replace it. Until then, I'll happily enjoy shooting my 7.62x39 uppers for $5.00/20rds in brass cases
    30 caliber junkie.
