    Maintenance Schedule

    All -

I picked up a Ned Christiansen built 1911, and it's one fine pistol. It's also my first 1911. I traded an AIAE MK2 for this pistol, and am very glad that I did. The first 300 rounds have been flawless, and the pistol is easier to shoot than I imagined.

I primarily use pistols in "practical" bolt gun field matches, when the stage calls for it. I don't anticipate ever participating in IDPA, IPSC, etc. as I have no interest in those sports. I'll more than likely shoot between 2-3k rounds per year.

I understand that I should be replacing the recoil spring every 2-3k rounds. What other maintenance should I be following? At what point does a 1911 require a full makeover?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best,
    JP

Hilton Yam wrote a great article for 1911 maintenance that is worth a read - http://www.10-8performance.com/pages...-in-1911s.html
