Apologize if this has been asked in this thread, but since LMT's site is garbage, which variant would I want? There is the LM308MWS and then like 6 designations afterwards, E, F, G, H, K. Some I can tell are the California version, one says stainless steel (blackened) barrel. I found a good price on the LM308MWS E variant.

I think the one you specified (LM308mws-E) is the standard, 16" Chrome lined with quad-rail.

For what it's worth, my LM8 (slick sided version) has "LM308MWS" as the roll marked model number on the lower, so...?

You are correct. Their website is terrible.

Thanks. I see now the LM8MWS seems to be the most recent variant and that product number seems to come up with the most dealers stock on the Google machine.

    Hey all,

Gone "full stupid" and got myself a 26" barrel for reaching out. I wanted to use the short barrel for UK comps and our "no gas law" means cocking each time. Easiest way to do that is a side charger but I didn't want to carve up a good upper... so stupidly I brought another despite the system being modular.

16" barrel with carved up upper and side charging handle top left. Used with the STR butt.
In the centre 26" barrel with normal upper and ambi charging handle - LMT butt and AI brake for precision stuff.

    Barrel since coated...

To pull one out of the wayyyy back machine...

If you don't mind me asking HK,
Which buffer were you using? 8.5oz XH or the 6.5oz HSS?
Were you running a can? If so, which?

I just picked up a chopped 16" SS rifle length that had came from an 18" and have not yet run it. I want to set my MWS up to run this barrel exclusively suppressed (SF SOCOM762MINI). Currently I'm on a mission trying to pick brains of those who have run the 18 chopped down to 16 in various configurations. I'd love any advice, experience or information you'd feel like sharing.
    TIA,
    Ben

I purchased an 18" CL barrel and had it chopped to 16" and typically run it with a Specwar 762 and the SilencerCo ASR brake. The rifle is still noticeably overgassed when suppressed, even with the rifle-length gas system. I am running the stock H3 buffer and have gone back to the OEM buffer spring. I had some consistent issues while using FGMM 168 in this configuration and with the Sprinco Orange spring. I was getting frequent FTE and doubling (2 shots with 1, intentional, trigger pull). I have the Geissele SD-E trigger installed too. Without the can, she shot like a dream and had 0 issues through 340 rounds during a 3 day comp.

When I shoot surplus ammo with the silencer, I have had very, very few issues. I can only deduce, with help from others here, that the hotter load of the match round was speeding up the carrier and causing my problems.

When I shoot any load unsuppressed, and with the brake, it is very smooth and reliable.
