Had some time to hit the Range over the weekend with my MWS and to try out some American Eagle 168 gr. OTM they promote for use in the M1. It shoots just as good as the Federal GMM in my MWS. Luckily the local store here has plenty in stock and at $12.99 a box. Can't beat it. Ballistics look quite similar to GMM too.

I've had the same experience with my MWS. It loves this stuff which is great based on the price. I seem to get consistent 1 MOA groups out of my 16 in CL bbl with it.

My first contribution to the site. She's not much, but she's mine. About 700 rounds through so far and seems to be fairly accurate given my lack of shooting skill.

The second new product is LMT’s new .308 AR system that managed to shave almost a full pound off of the standard 10 pound AR10/.308 AR system through some smart barrel tapering under the handguard and implementation of an aluminum barrel extension. There’s some possibility of military interest in this redesigned .308 (recall that LMT supplies .308s to the British government), and no doubt civilians will be interested in a light weight but heavy duty .308 AR.
What? Is he just talking about the slick MWS (which is not actually new) in contrast to an AR10 or an actual redesign of the MWS?

Sounds like just the barrel taper and aluminum barrel extension. There is a lot of steel in the barrel extension. I just hope it doesn't sacrifice accuracy or durability.

It's my interpretation that it is a redesign of the LM8MWS to shed the weight with the lighter barrel and nut.

If that is the case one would just need a new barrel....

Indeed, hopefully they sell them individually. Lightweight heavy carbine blaster to semi-auto heavy SPR with just two bolts

I wonder how much weight they actually cut off. It seems as the weight difference between the standard MWS and Slick MWS wasn't thaat much

Article says almost a full pound. If it is all from the barrel that would be a dramatic difference in balance. Most people's complaint about the MWS is that it is heavy/front heavy.
