This wait on this barrel is killing me! Knowing I need to send it to a machine shop as soon as it shows up is even worse! I think a 1x6 optic is enough optic for 600yd shooting at torso sized targets. I've taken my Razor out to 830 on torso sized steel without a problem. That being said it needs to be good glass, not just any 6x

Load 6 rounds instead of the 5. A lot of people feel that carrier locking causing the last shot to pull.

Why not a 3-15 or bigger? I run a 4-16 Steiner Mil on mine with a 6.5 barrel, at a 1000yds even that I feel is marginal. It one thing if you have a gun only capable of 600yds. I have let people look through my scope several time so they could see their hit even at 300yds.

I do not want to loose my close quarters capability. The red dot option on this optic is awesome. If I can have an optic that provides CQB type speed & also reach out to nearly the effective range of the weapon system I feel like I am using it to its fullest potential, (for my purposes). If I had a 20" SS or a 6.5Creed barrel in it than yes, more magnification would be a must. I had a 4.5x14x50 Mark 4 on it for a while but it was not near as fun.

Not to get off topic, but how would the bolt locking back possibly affect POI? Even if the rifle had an absurdly short gas system for the barrel length, the bullet would leave the muzzle well before the bolt unlocked, moved the carrier, extracted and ejected the case and passed the bolt catch, would it not?

It's not the bolt locking back, it's the pressure of the next round pushing up on the bolt carrier. All but your last round has another round putting pressure up on the carrier.

I load 17-20.

I fire the first round to track my cold bore and then fire (3) or less 5 round groups. I make sure my first round isn't a target group, and my last round isn't a target group.
