I read a lot of post of guys using the 123gr A-Max, I just wonder about them pushing out to 1000yds. I have been loading them in my Grendel with good results. Buy worry on windy days.

I have been read a post that Trident 82 did a couple of years ago. Does anyone know if Rock is still doing the SS barrels? He did a good right on the 308.
What powder are you going to use? I'm currently using 4350, but want to try RL17 ASAP. Everything I've read and heard from fellow shooters is that you gain a couple hundred feet per second faster with no adverse effects on pressure etc.

My current load was rushed together for a precision rifle class, and was very conservative at only 2,500 fps for the 142gr SMK. It was enough to get me to 1,100 yards, but the wind really started to push it after 900+ yards. At 800 yards and in the rifle shot with boring repeatability.

Regarding Rock: IIRC, the way the barrel is stamped (caliber and SS engraving) in relationship to the gas block is a clue on the manufacture. Maybe Trident can chime in.

RL17 is what I use, currently I load 42gr behind a 130gr VLD. It gives a 10 shot avg of 2759fps, but the range is over 5500 feet in elevation. With that load I was able to get to 1030yds and hit a 16" gong.

Have enjoyed reading this thread and looking at all the great pics.
Have lurked for awhile but decided to post a pic of my rifle too.
Sorry, another iPhone pic but better than nothing.
    My rifle has...
    Vortex Razor 4.5-27x scope
    Vortex Defender scope caps
Aadmount 35mm one piece mount/rings with 34mm inserts
    Aadmount throw lever
    Geissele National Match trigger
    Savvy Sniper sling
    Modular Evolution bipod
Decided to keep the standard Sopmod stock and grip because they feel great to me.

Sagittarius, it nice to see one else run a scope on their MWS. What 20" barrel are you running?

It's just the standard factory .308 20" barrel but it shoots pretty well with Federal 168 gr Matchking BTHP ammo.
Averages 3/4" with some groups going 1/2" at 100 yds.
    150 gr Remington Core-Lokt does 1 to 1 1/2"
Haven't shot it much, about 40 rounds so far with just those two cartridges.
Hope to test it with more ammunition when I have the time.

A couple more changes to my MWS.

coincidentally after taking this photo I listed the Troy BUIS for sale, sold them in 10 minutes. Applied the funds towards some Magpul Pro Offset Buis with same day shipping, and installed them later that day.
    Wow internet, wow.

Father's Day gift to myself. Went with the 16" chrome lined light weight barrel. Scope is temporary; waiting on a NF ATACR 4-16.
