I am speaking about the frequency. Just because "someone" is offering a course doesn't mean I want to attend that specific course. In addition they have to jive with my schedule which is sporadic and chaotic.

Gunsite and Suarez don't do anything for me. Sorry.

Not to mention other organizations like Gunsite, Suarez International or even the class I attended last year with "Frogman"

If you haven't made it to a class in AZ its not because of a lack of opportunity.

I have taken 0 classes, but I do plan on taking some in the future...everytime I find one that I want to attend something ultimately comes up whether be it "life gets in the way" or money. that and most courses I've found in New England lately are geared towards people that have taken courses already.

I was trying to plan a trip out west to see my best friend and attend the magpul dynamic shotgun course with him, but that fell through.

    soon enough

    soon enough.

I agree. There aren't as many classes in AZ, especially Tucson. There are top notch instructors that come out, but it's infrequent and inconsistent. I believe LAV, Hackathorn, Dave Harrington, and Rogers were all at Casa Grande last year. The only one that comes with any regularity is Pat Rogers. I believe LAV is scheduled at Ben Avery in December. The Magpul Dynamics class in Tucson filled up pretty quickly.

Many on this forum tend to avoid Gunsite and Suarez for various reasons. I'm not familiar with all of them.

Mike Pannone just started doing classes in Catalina this year and I'm going to try to get in on one when my schedule allows.

I've attended EAG Pistol 2 (2 days) and Carbine 2 (3 days) both in Casa Grande. I attended the TigerSwan Pistol/Carbine class (3 days) in Catalina, but they aren't on the schedule to come out this year.

I've done a total of 3 classes and am wanting to do more, but time is always the issue. Training means, taking time off of work. Taking time off of work means no money, in addition to money spent on training tuition and ammo. As a sole proprietor, you don't get paid sick days, personal days, or vacation days. Combine that with my wife who tolerates my new found passion, and two little kids who ask where Daddy is when I'm gone, it's hard to do more than two classes a year. You also won't find many classes happening during June, July, August, or September unless people want to pass out from heatstroke.

IG, are you still doing informal get togethers up in the Phoenix area?

I have NEVER taken a commercial firearms training class. I have taken several instructor classes. I don't think they are much different but I know that the instructor skills that I have can be enhanced if I take training classes from other reputable instructors. I would love to take classes but my status as a single parent keeps me from traveling and I don't have many training opportunities in my area.

So far only 1 day classes with a local guy. I've attended 4 classes with him so far. Was supposed to take an EAG class this month, but a back injury forced me to back out.

My next class will be a 2 day at RedBack 1 carbine and hopefully a 2 day pistol as soon as I get the back injury under control.

I've taken three classes so far and will take more in the future. It's a little expensive because I have to fly out no matter where I go, but it's worth it.

I never really thought about going any cla sses before I attended a local class for my Utah carry permit. It was only a one day class with half a day of live fire, but it really made me realize that I didn't know what the hell I was doing.

I've learned more in the past three years than I have in the previous seven years of pre-instruction firearms ownership.

I agree and you explained better than I. Yes, I would love to get some more of us together and shoot. I am willing to drive down to Casa Grande again. I still want to do the impro armorer course as well.
