Mass compliant M&P.... how do you tell?

I traded for an M&P today, and didn't realize till I had already agreed to trade, that it had 10 rnd mags. I am now wondering if it is MA or California compliant. Is there any way to tell, short of calling the factory? The trigger feels a little heavier, but haven't felt enough M&P triggers to know the difference.Oh yea, anybody want to buy 10 rounders, or trade for 17 rounders?

There is a HUGE difference between a 10-12 pound trigger and a 6-7.

You can feel it.

Also, look at your trigger return spring. The MA trigger return spring is a dark almost red/black color.

The factory spring is a lighter, silverish/bronzish color.

Ok, it has the red trigger return spring. I'm guessing it's Mass compliant. Now what's the best way to get a nice trigger pull out of it?

Apex DCAEK or mix and match Apex parts to get where you need/want to be.

The factory (S&W) will not sell you the standard sear housing springs so you're either going to have to keep what you got, replace the entire sear housing or go with an Apex unit.

I thought the MA compliant housing was more sought after since it helped resolve the dead trigger issue? Are the sears the same in all M&P's?

You can send the gun back to S&W with a complaint about the trigger and they will put a free state one into it. Its been done before just contact S&W and more than likely they will send you a box to ship it in. they are quite good with CS


as for the trigger kits the Apex are good to go, alot of people in MA swap them in immediatly

Do you go with the full DCAEK,or just swap TRS & hard sear, which is the best option. I may try S&W and see what they will do.

A non-MA compliant sear housing. Just PM Randy with APEX and he'll set you up, don't be afraid to ditch the factory sear, the APEX hard sear is well worth the expenditure. Hell, the entire DCAEK is well worth it.

Do you have the case with the factory label on it? Check the SKU vs. the S&W M&P model list. That'll tell you for sure what it has.
