    FrankenAR -- What Is It?

A dealer friend took in an AR15 build and is looking to turn it fast (i.e. cheap...maybe). I thought it would be a surplus A1 upper on an Oly lower, but it turned out to be:

    TDW (Oly) Lower
    A1 Trapdoor Buttstock
    A2 Pistol Grip
A2 Upper with "M" forge mark
A1 pencil barrel; only marking appears to be "C" at the muzzle end
Looks like A1 shiny triangular handguards

Whole think seems a bit rattly, but handles nicely. Should I take a closer look or pass?

    TIA

This thing is either going to be great, and you will love it, or it will be a complete POS that will give you indigestion and nightmares.

As long as it's really cheap. . .

    Buy it.

    Here is a thought:

I owned a slighty newer Olympic Arms lower from 1992. I sold the stripped lower (used) for $175 to an FFL in New York State about a year ago. The buyer was glad to have it, and there were plenty of other guys willing to pay more for a USED pre ban lower.

That stop sign lower is pre ban. If you buy the gun, it should hold its value. you might even MAKE money on it.

Did you know that they are not making any more NY-legal pre-bans?

I'd pass. Life is too short, and my safe is too small for junk guns.

Without knowing the price, it is hard to give a good answer.
