Texas buck. I shot it yesterday in the jugular vein from 100 yards with an AR that I built. Bled out dead about 15 feet from where I shot it.20171204_091649.jpg

I took a 5X5 Bull elk in Unit 23 near Payson AZ. last Friday. Shot him with my 300WM, 220 ELD-X bullets at 1,300 yards. I laser-ed him at 1,400 then ran to the end of the hill cutting off 100 yards and did the deed. Maybe Markm will post some pics he has. We carted out 168lbs of meat and it killed us. Shot him on the nastiest hill imaginable.

Congrats! Awesome shooting! Is that the closet you could physically get to it? I know out west there are those shots. But man, 1300 is just awesome.

I spotted him at 1,400 and change. I was sitting on a knoll or finger that extended between two canyons with almost a 360 degree view. We had 4 different mountains and most shots were inside 600 yards, but as fate would have it he shows his arse at 1400. The end of the knoll could get me into a 1200 yard shot, but there was no place to go prone and get a good shooting lane. I think my spot was bouncing around 1310 and 1315. I really wanted to be inside 1,000 because of DOPE-ING wind. We shoot most weekend and stab at 1300 every time. I hit it with my LMT MWS yesterday with 12mph winds gusting up and down (took me 4 or 5 shots if I remember) Luckily that day, the wind was probably 6 or 7 but consistent. I held the better part of the length of the Elk. I dint measure just did it off instinct more or less.
