I got lucky with that one. A coworker of mine got it from family that were divvying up guns that were in a relatives collection. My friend isn't into guns so he sold it to me. I didn't know anything about K98's before I bought it from him. It's a BNZ 44 bolt mismatch with all of the bolt parts matching and the rest of the gun/stock matching. Bore shines.
It's in great shape, but I agree, when I see them at shops/shows, they usually look a little beat up.

I've heard both good and bad things about Boyds stocks, but this one fit pretty well. The magazine takes more firm pressure to seat than with the factory stock, but not bad enough to make me want to mess with it. I'm thinking about a Boyds stock for the Mosin one day. It's not numbers matching, and I don't care about collector value of a 1 in 10 million commie gun.
