Wow. Have always wanted a K98k, but the condition of most I come across, and the prices they want for a worn rifle, has kept me from getting one. Yours looks to be in excellent condition!

    Savage Axis .308 in a Boyd's stock.

You know what I like best about most people?

    Their dogs.

That looks great. I have a .243 Axis that needs the Boyd's treatment.

Thanks. I was going for the style of the hunting rifles I used to lust after in all the gun books back in the late 70s early 80s.

You start adding stuff like the shiny finish, the checkering, the white line spacers and back caps and the $99 value goes away, but I'm still happy with their product. I wish I had sprung for a better recoil pad.

Tell me about it. I specced out a stock for mine, and it came to about $220. Worth it, but it just keeps getting edged out by other projects. I have a basic Prairie Hunter for the 111 with the Boyd's "recoil pad" (more like a traction pad than anything else), and it's better than factory, with the added weight, but the shoulder does get a good bruise. The Decelerator pads on both the .338 above and the '06 do a great job of keeping them to very comfortable levels.

Pic thread; This is what the '06 did a couple days ago. Three shots in a 0.5" group, center-to-center, and then the top of the bullseye after adjustment. I know, "3 shots is not an indication of accuracy".... but good enough for me. Shooting 168gr factory TTSX ammo.
