“Detached Reflection Cannot Be Demanded in the Presence of an Uplifted Knife” ~ Brown v. United States (1921)
I got lucky on this one, no real endshake to speak of, and carryup was acceptable, but not perfect. Somebody had been through it before. So I stripped it to the last pin, soaked it in Eds Red for a couple of days to remove any hidden dirt or carbon, then reassembled it and doublechecked timing. etc. All was in spec, so I spent a few days correcting its appearance related challenges, then bead-blasted the top of the frame with coarse media at high pressure. Then I masked off the tops, and blasted the rest of the gun with fine media, at lower pressure. This gave it a rather pleasing two-tone effect. Following that, I scrubbed the lower areas with white scotchbrite to make it really smooth and clean, then I waxed it to seal the surface. I reassembled the gun with all new springs, and doublechecked everything one last time, including using my equally old-school range rod. A used set of Pachmayer Grippers gave it an finishing touch. Sadly, a guy just offered me more money than it was worth to me, & I sold it a little over an hour ago. I never even got to shoot it once. This is the only other pic I have of it.
