Question Painting / marking your bullets ...

Did a search on "painting" and came up empty here, so sorry if this is a dupe.

Painting comes in handy to quickly id what kind of bullet you are shooting (e.g., SS109 bullets are painted green to visually mark it as steel core).

One useful application I have in mind is to paint frangible bullets white to distinguish them from fmj ammo - a safety consideration when training in a shoothouse.

Easy to mix up ammo - I can't tell the difference between a Barnes RRLP 55 gr frang vs. 55 gr FMJBT - at least not on the fly.

I've seen some guys dip the top section of the bullets in nail polish - is there another quick way to accomplish this task without affecting bullet trajectory or safety? Spray paint?

Mark the magazine with a type, only put that type in it. Less time, less fuss.

    I use Sharpie markers.

I have a complete color code system with bands on the brass or just the tips of the bullets for precision bolt loads.

Color indicates the powder, number of bands indicates the number of firings on the brass, etc.

Sharpie is much more quick and easy than an actual paint product.

Completely agree - Sharpie works very well. And, it identifies your brass to help reduce theft from those low-life range brass whores.......!!

I stripe the case head after I drop them into 50 rnd boxes. The fat Sharpies work the best:

    Red - 1st time reloaded.
    Blue - 2nd
    Green - 3rd
    Black - 4th

    .

    FWIW
I found the dark colored Sharpies hold up better than the black.

    But maybe it's just me...
