I like to have a few replacement parts on hand if probems occur. But I always test them for function before I put them up. In my mind there is nothing worse than having a broken weapon and replacing the broken part with an untested and possibly defective part. So yes in a way I am breaking the cardinal rule, but for testing purposes only.

Any ideas why changing the extractor would cause that. It didn't fail to extract or eject, but it was very irratic. Could polishing be all it needs?

Well, I'm now scratching my head after shooting yesterday. Put 100 rounds of 147 gr. Winchester Super X and then 100 rounds of 124 gr. Winchester NATO-- got one shell casing on the forehead from the 124 gr., none from the 147 gr.- usually average 2-3 per 100 rounds. Could it be I'm shooting the problem out? I've just hit 2,100 rounds. Totally stumped with this gun.

Placed the following in the 1st hand report of Gen 4 9mm, meant to post in the ejection|extractor issues.

    So here it is:

For those of you with Gen 4's 17 & or 19 ejection issues, please try this test and post your results:

    1. insert magazine with round
    2. tap & rack
    3. remove magazine
    4. fire off the chambered round.

Did your round eject or just hang up?

My Gen 4 G17 (May 2010) with 30274 ejector when performing the above test, will not eject the spent round.

The brass isn't ejected and the slide is back about 1/2" resulting in a rack to eject the brass.

Back a few pages, an OP posted a video performing this test and his rounds did eject, therefore I thought for shits and grins test my weapon. Was surprised with the results.

I tried this with my new Gen 4 that has had no issues with ejection. I used 115 grain American Eagle and it would not eject. The brass would fall through the mag well. I then tried it with Remington 115gr. UMC and it would eject, but the brass went in all different dirrections. I fired 10 rounds of each ammo and and the results were the same.

American Eagle is definitely loaded hotter than UMC so maybe that had something to do with it.
