Just got off the phone with Spikes and I talked to Derrick in technical. He says their LPK is MIl Spec and meets the guidelines for tolerances. He also said that they get their parts from reputable companies though he would not say what companies they used. He seemed to understand what Mil Spec meant but may be it was Spikes version of what Mil Spec is. I know I satisfied with his answer.

...but the question remains why get the spikes super duper enhanced when you can get...

    G&R tactical LPK $94
    Magpul, or like, grip $30

    and save $25.00

    or

    G&R tactical LPK (-the selector)
    Magpul, or like, grip $30
    BADD ASS ambi selector $60

Bulldog60...let it go. You will get nowhere but frustrated. Do some reading here and you'll see what I mean. For the record, I bought a Spikes LPK for my SBR build too along with a HC BCG and a few other parts. Good price, great warrenty, full disclousure about the specifications on their parts. I have no doubt that they will function just fine. I'm not saying that DD, Colt or BCM parts are not worth it and had they been the same price as the Spikes I would have bought theirs...I just got more bang for my buck with the Spikes.

How about this. Why don't you tell me and the viewing audience what you think MILSPEC means?

There is no such thing as "Spikes' version of MILSPEC". So whatever makes you happy man. Rock out with your sock out.

Trying to let you know there's cheaper (arguably better) options out there.

And I didn't think we were supposed to start 'build' threads til we were finished with said build

Why Spikes? This is my first build and my lower was the first part that I bought. I did lots of research on other forums and youtube and always Spikes came up. I checked out their site and did more research on what Mil Spec was. I did land on this site and read Grants post however I did not know that he was a dealer and it really didn't matter at the time. I did submit info to join this forum but it took awhile and I ended up PM en someone before I could post. In the mean time I read in another message board that many on this forum were elitist and if you didn't own a Colt you didn't have a quality firearm so I waited to see for myself. All I have to say about that is WOW!

I really came down to Spikes having everything all together for since I was still a little intimidated by building my own rifle. I knew I could do it but you know how it goes. It ended up that when I was ready for my build on my lower Spikes was out of stock on the enhanced kit. This was something I was getting tired of while building this thing so I really did panic and I just ordered their regular kit then I ordered their trigger. By this time I did enough research and watched many videos on youtube that I was comfortable with getting other lower parts from other companies so I ordered Magpul MOE +, that ended up being out of stock too but they sure took my money first, then I picked up a MOE trigger guard. A BAD A.S.S was next then KNS pins because I might run a conversion. Spikes was on my mind and I thought I would like their trigger.

My next build I will use parts from Grant. After I learned that he was a dealer I wasn't going to get anything from him because this forum is shoving his products down our throats. That being said I changed my mind this morning after re reading his Mis Spec post. He seems to be a cool dude and answered everyone's questions without telling them to use the orange search button.

Spikes parts went in fine, they even give you an extra spring and detent.

You still didn't answer my question. In any case be happy with your stuff and let's stay out of the OP's thread.

My advice is not to cut corners with an SBR. When it comes to the buffer I would get an H3 and not the Spike's ST2.

Or if you want a multipurpose lower get the Vltor A5 system which will generally allow you to run a variety of uppers.
