    the grease you speak of (we called it GMD) is pretty easy to get ahold of in mech units, never in short supply, so it's not a surprise that the can wasn't used. Just make sure you wear gloves when applying it-apparently there's a carcinogen in it somewhere...

    GMD - Grease, Molybdenum Disulfide

    It is used on the M242 and the USGI stuff was carsonagenic as of the 90's. I don't know if they have changed the formula.
