Some patterns from my new Robar custom 870

    Gents,

Took my newly obtained Robar custom "Tactical Elite" 870 out for the first time today. I ran some Win/Ranger "Low-Recoil" 00 buck through it to see what kind of patterns I could get. I have very little working knowledge of shotguns and pattern size. Just curious how the results from todays session compare to what is considered a good pattern for a .12ga shotty. Here's some pics:

    10yd pattern:

    15 & 20yd patterns:

    25yd pattern:

    Thanks for you opinions/advice.

    Stay safe,
    Nick

Looks good to me. What brand of buckshot? Different buckshot loads can pattern dramatically different. Those appear to very uniform.

I still hate you for getting this shotgun, (kidding). Put me first in line if you ever decide it's not for you.

You will have to fight the Yeti for it if I ever do decide to sell it!

It was all with Winchester Ranger "Law Enforcement" Low-Recoil 9 pellet 00 buck.

    Hello Nick,

I have also had good results with the Federal and Hornandy loads recommended. I really like the Fioochi 2 3/4" 12 GA loads (Low Recoil 00/ 9 pellet) as well.

The Winchester Ranger shoot tight out of your 870, did Robar include the Vang-Comp. barrel modification?

My 870 shoots the Ranger loads decently, but not as tight as your gun.

Try-out a few different loads. You may be surprised to find a low-cost 00 load that works really well.

    Good Luck in your search,

P.S. How about a pic of that Robar 870? I loved to see what they did for you. Ah, forgot to mention.
I would consider sticking with the 2 3/4" loads for defense/ anti-personnel use because not much is gained from the 3" shell except more recoil. The only exception that I can think of for the 3" shells is for defense against large animals or hunting.
