    Good God.

Could you imagine if Gingrich had a "White Americans for Gingrich" ad? Or better yet "White Americans Against Obama"?

Yes he does and he's not the only one.

Until the "black leadership" starts looking to the future as Americans, let the past be the past, and strive to contribute to this country in a productive manner, the race card will always be played. This kind of targeting of one race to secure votes does nothing to help relations on either side. As an American, who happens to be a white man, it pisses me off.

I really do not understand, even though their ancestors were used and abused in such a terrible way, why they cannot let the African thing go and just be Americans.

I must condition this post with this.

I know quite a few blacks that I consider friends of mine that are intelligent, well spoken, have really good careers and basically cool folks to associate with.

Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”Thomas Jefferson, quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria in “On Crimes and Punishment”, 1764

Keeping modern blacks on the modern plantation of economic helplessness and dependency while at the same mentally sabotaging them by telling them over and over again being a failure is ok because you're black. You know that evil capitalism and indivualism makes it so blacks can't get ahead in this country so heres a welfare check to make up for it. Be sure to vote democrat!

How would you feel if your whole life you were constantly being told not doing anything in life is ok and its just because evil whitey is keeping you down? So you don't do anything, and get a welfare check every month instead while fathering multiple kids whom you can't support?

If a black person today escapes the modern plantation and actually expresses opinions about people needing to be more independent and actually do something with their lives they are shouted down as being an uncle tom or race traitor.

This is what they teach your kids in school.

It isn't racism... if you hate white people.

    Mainstream racism.

If only we could have an equality movement in this country.

It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

Two of the most clear-cut and well documented causes of the economic woes of black Americans (all other groups are affected as well, it's just that black Americans have among the highest percentages of their population affected) are:

    1. Dependency on government assistance. This destroys independence, initiative, self-reliance, work ethic, the "enterprising spirit", and above all, one's own dignity. It creates a permanent, cancerous sense of "entitlement," the thought being that "I am OWED something...." Once someone has been infected with this dependency, it is difficult to wean them off it and return them to productive work and citizenship. An entire class of people in our country have been ruined by this dependence.

    2. Breakdown of the family unit. The social ills (crime, drug use, low educational achievement or dropout, out-of-wedlock births, prison incarceration rates, etc.) that we see are highly correlated with single-parent and especially fatherless households. Do things to strengthen the basic family unit, and keep two parents in the household, and on a cultural level, you will directly reduce most of these ills.

Rather than addressing REAL causes of social ills, such as the above, it's so much easier to scream "racism", blame it on someone else, and demand yet MORE government assistance as a means of redress. This only perpetuates the problem. I would think the President, if he really wants to help, would be interested in working on real causes of the problem, rather than just slinging accusations to get a few more headlines and half a percentage point boost in the polls.
