Announcement for this next week

It has come to our attention that the phrase Blow-Out Kit is a registered trademark and we are changing the name of our kit in order to both respect the rights of the trademark holder and to create our own distinct identity. For this, we are looking to our customers for suggestions and will be running a basic competition. Make a suggestion, if we pick yours you win a kit. Competition starts NOW and ends whenever I get to my computer on Monday January 18th and decide. After that the kits will be relabeled under the new name and the winner will get an email asking for shipping instructions.

APC Basic Med Kit Link

Make your posts here, we are running this deal on our facebook page, our blog, and the other forums that we are represented on (LMSDefense.com, 5352.org).

As to my remark about getting to the computer on Monday. I will be headed out to Las Vegas for SHOT show to try and con a number of manufacturers into building or at least looking at some prototype gear that I have been working on. Due to this we will not be shipping any orders received after 1100 on January 17. This time cutoff will allow us to get all orders prior to that time out before leaving. For those of you who place orders between now and Monday January 25th when we start shipping again you will get a 10% discount on your entire order for your patience. Simply enter the coupon code: SHOT. This is only for in stock on the shelf items and not the special orders we have been doing for Haiti response that are already fairly well discounted. This applies to orders between now and the cutoff tomorrow as well so if you order today or tonight you will get the discount and your gear will ship before we leave. Party on!

We look forward to hearing your suggestions for the kit and bringing you some dope new gear after SHOT.

Take care and we will see you on the other side,

Nice to see class in an industry often short of it.

Who owns the trademark for BOK? Should I pay royalties everytime I use it in class?

These guys: promed kits

I actually talked to the owner today at SHOT, no drama involved, just a cordial and professional conversation.

My patent attorney left SHOT today and should be getting the info back on the new name. A little slower than expected but we are covering our bases this time.

I will be doing a more detailed AAR of SHOT 2010 and how it pertains to Austere Provisions Company during the weekly blog entry but I will give you a little teaser: We are taking something to production and you should see it in coyote, multicam, and possibly black for some of our LE clients. This is a product that has been a long time coming to actual full production. More details to follow and we are very excited to be working with the manufacturer, these guys are the epitome of quiet professionals and thats the way we like it.

After some delay due to SHOT and performing due diligence on the selected name it is time for public release:

The chosen name is actually an adjustment on a suggestion:

C3 Kit (Combat Casualty Care Kit) which was submitted in the Austere Provisions Company Section on the LMS Defense Forum by user Matt Merony. While we are adjusting the name slightly, Matt will still be receiving his free kit since his input is the bulk of the new nomenclature.

The final variation came to be the IC3 Kit or Individual Combat Casualty Care Kit and is now up on the site. The kits are being relabeled tomorrow and any kits ordered from this point on will be under the IC3 label.

Kits can be found here: Austere Provisions Company IC3 Kit

All the submissions were great and a few may even be used for other kits we build down the road, some others provided a good laugh after the long flight to Vegas.

Thanks to everyone here at M4carbine.net, LMS Defense Forum, 5352.org Forum, The Austere Provisions Company Blog, and all of our Facebook friends for checking in and throwing your thoughts out there for consideration.

ETA: Look for more competitions like this in the future as we put kits together for various purposes.
