Best light mount ?

I did some searching but can't find a discussion on which style mount to use.

I have a midlength 14.5 rifle with a free float tube. Before the tube I had a magpul MOE handguard, and my polytac mounted to it was at about 2 o'clock. With the non angled sides of the rail I am at 3 o'clock now.

Is there a preferred mount for lights that have tailcap buttons? I will eventually get a light with a switch, but for now I have to be able to get the button with my thumb, and mounting it on the left side will interfer with gripping the gun farther forward.

Suggestions?

My favorite light mount is the Vltor offset with throw leaver. It’s fast to install/remove and the throw leaver is positive. Before I got the one with a throw leaver, I used a friends with the thumb screws, for a few days. I found with the thumb screws I need to keep checking the tightness, due to them backing off. The mount is pricy but I think it is well worth it.

"Free float tube," like "best," is kinda broad.

About 3 years worth of various setups, descriptions thereof, pictures thereof, and reasons why.

Don't be shy about asking questions in it.
