What is the maximum range an AR with a 10" barrel is usable to? Is an 11.5" barrel substancially more capable?

"The secret to happiness is freedom, and the secret to freedom is courage." - Thucydides, c. 410 BC
What do you mean by useable, are we talking about accuracy or lethality?
"Arms are the only true badge of liberty. The possession of arms is the distinction of a free man from a slave." - Andrew Fletcher, 1698
"You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass." - Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto
"Among Other Evils Which Being Unarmed Brings You, It Causes You To Be Despised." - The Prince, Nicolo Machiavelli
Check out some of TRIDENT82's threads on his shooting with his 10.5" out to 300 yards.
"Addressing the problem of shootings by ban or confiscation of non-criminal's guns is like addressing the problem of rape by chopping off the Johnson of everyone who DIDN't rape anyone while not only leaving the rapists' equipment intact, but giving them free viagra to boot." --Me
This would be the place for Trident82 and markm to chime in but here is a thread for 10.5"
I tried searching for some of Trident's threads and his youtube page...they fell off the edge of the internetz

No dude is going to get shot in the chest at 300 yards and look down and say "What is that, a 3 MOA group?"
I've shot 10.3" guns out to 600 meters, and achieved far more hits than misses, and stuffing a 77gr bullet through someone's torso at any velocity is not a way to ensure a long a prosperous life.
The energetic frag range is greatly reduced from that of a 20" or 14.5" barrel when all other variables are equal, but exactly what that range is is highly dependant on bullet type and construction.
