Was looking at a video for the Texas Rangers' LaRue rifle and got a quick question. In the video I saw, they said that it will come with a 14.5" medium contour barrel. Is this a different contour barrel?

Was wondering if anyone new if Larue would sell these rifles with the original OBR stocks rather than the cigar cutter stocks. Have attempted to contact Larue via email and phone with no response.

Simple fix buy the stock you want and sell the one you don't like that comes on the rifle. You can't expect a company to cater to each and every individual customer on a production gun.

Thanks for the input, I know they can't cater to everyone but was just wondering if you could order it with the OBR stock that's all.

I'm with you.

I have a PredatOBR on order and trust me, I'll be ditching the "cigar cutter" stock...

I don't really see why they couldn't work in custom stuff. Its a pretty low volume operation. If they were making tens of thousands, I could see it being problematic.

Its not like he's requesting a custom gas system or port size that would take a tooling change. Its just furniture.

I half suspect they came out with their own stock and grip to help with what I'm sure is a production bottleneck.

What insight do you have to make such a statement?

Also, what do you mean by "...to help with what I'm sure is a production bottleneck."

Are you suggesting LaRue has a production bottleneck or getting furniture is causing a production bottleneck?

Its not a dig on Larue. You obviously never worked in a factory.

I've seen the pics of their setup. While there is a huge investment there, it's still a realitively low volume operation.

I can order a Dodge Challenger with the options I want, and Dodge is turning many more of those out than Larue is making rifles. A Challenger is significantly more complicated to produce.

I'm sure there are bottle necks of all kinds in this industry. Larue makes the upper, lower, and hand guard. All of these are dependent on having available metal, machines and personnel. Everything else has to be sourced. If they are waiting on barrels from LW, or triggers from Geissele, guns aren't shipping. Why would stocks be different?

Noveske doesn't make bolt carrier groups, but they can't ship a rifle without one.

Manufacturing is dependent on suppliers. This isn't a mystery.

I'm sure Larue doesn't want to leave customers with money in their hand while they are waiting on production, but that's the reality.

Stock

I did speak to someone at LaRue about replacing the stock with an OBR stock when I ordered my rifle. He told me just order the OBR stock and when you get the rifle just put the OBR stock on and sell the other.

They at this time would not be doing any customizations to the rifle. He told me that months ago.

So, when my rifle comes in with the standard stock, I will just replace it with the OBR stock.

Does anyone know if any rifles have been built and shipped yet?

There is a rather lengthy thread on TOS in the Industry section. I don't think any of the PredatOBRs, either 5.56 or 7.62 have shipped to private hands.

The PredatARs seem to be rolling, rather slowly...sadly.

I got two on order, one for me and one for a friend. Too bad they aren't taking any new dealers in Bakersfield, I'd love to sell their products

I'm fairly positive the 556 version came up in discussion in this thread with a few members expressing a desire to purchase. Figured Id pass along the heads up. If that is not the case by all means delete my post so as to not derail the thread unnecessarily

It is a .223 that interestingly enough weighs almost as much as the .308 Larue PredatOBR I have on order...

Correct, along with several senior members and at least one moderator asking that the thread stay on topic (i.e., the PredatOBR).

There seems to be some confusion. Simply saying "predatOBR" doesn't indicate caliber.
