If I were you, I'd be very careful who you show that to. Because the person that wrote that is dangerous. And you never know when this button-down Oxford cloth psycho might come to work with an Armalite AR-10 carbine gas-powered semi-automatic weapon stalking from office to office pumping round after round into co-workers. It could be someone you've known for years. Someone very, very close to you.

Those comics always infuriated me. I had them burned in mass whenever they showed up around the unit.

Yeah the comics aren't great but it looked interesting that I at least read parts of it. Perhaps they should bring things up to 2012 and come out with Upotte style videos.

Why??? Before the internet they had good info that was hard to find anywhere else. Why would you throwaway information?

Before the Internet or Smart Phones I used to read them and learn from them all the time. Doing so actually allowed me to be a bit more Technically and Tactically proficient over my peers. I can honestly say, I was "The Man" on more than a few "Guard Mounts" because I actually read these.
As far as the new Improved Magazines - my unit received these a couple of years ago. They all had orange Magpul followers that reversed the sequence. And this is the only thing I hate about those - it threw me off as to whether or not I hod odd or even numbered rounds in the magazines.

That is kind of an interesting concept putting this info into comics! I guess most of the new troops are 17-20.

They have been publishing PS Monthly since the 50's. This is nothing new at all.

In my view, the comics play into a culture that treats soldiers like idiots by oversimplifying already simple things...although it's really not that huge of a deal, and I don't mean to over-dramatize it.
I would simply take whatever good information could be found in the comics (rare occurrence BTW...if you're learning new things from these comics something is wrong) and disseminate it in a professional way to the other professionals in the unit. Nobody needs a cartoon with two magazines talking to each other to understand or care about the information.

While all the above is pretty much spot on, the delivery system is pretty proven. As a unit armorer I never had an M249 jump out of the rack and tell me it was time for a T&E, but I have used the PS web site to find maintenance info that doesn't always trickle down through proper channels.
I won an award for a maintenance suggestion I came up with concerning the armorers tool kit. If I had to present that idea to my COC, they would have round filed it and carried on.

Consider the educational and cognitive ability of the lowest common denominator, and how low that is at times. There are some that indeed benefit from a quick-read comic.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the average intelligence of the US soldier is higher now than in the past. In the past many young men joined the Army because the judge presented enlistment as an alternative to jail.

You probably aren't alone in that feeling because I never saw one of those comic book during my enlistment. I did read FM's and TM's while studying for my MOS Test but I always had an NCO looking out for me when it came to equipment (among other things).
