HK MR762 , new gun huh?

It appears HK has launched their new 7.62 rifle. Maybe it's been out a while and I missed it. Anyone familiar with this gun?

It is an HK. MY dream AR10 is the SR25, but it's good to see Colt and some other entries in the market.

And they are standard HK - not cheap! I've seen the mags advertised from $75 to $95. It actually makes the SCAR 17 mags I bought seem relatively cheap.

I handed one in a local gun store a few weeks ago. It seemed precisely made and heavy, about as heavy as the LMT MWS. Luckily neither the MR762 nor the LMT MWS called out to me.

I finally got to handle one yesterday, and after my initial shock over the price I immediately noticed the thing feels like a boat anchor. I had a SCAR-17S to compare it with and the differences were night and day.

I think if I were looking for more of a battle-rifle type then it would not be first choice without at least re-profiling that barrel and even then I'm not sure how much it would really help. I hope to read more about the accuracy of this rifle; if it is truly a "match rifle" I'm sure many could care less about the weight.

Some of us who do milsim/classic airsoft bulding/mfg'ing/sourcing see 75-120 a mag regularly for certain guns. Not something any of us shy away from. (and the ones of us who own a quantity of mags own between 20 and 50 mags. Do the math and it's pretty scary in cost, especially since these are for 1-2 guns we own at most. IE, from 1500 - 4000+ just for one gun in magazines depending on quantity. But then again, we also probably own 100-200 magazines for our real steel counterparts. Shoot it hurt when I bought 50 mags, and about 10k rounds for my 5.7, but then you add the cheaper AR mags and mix with .50 beo rounds... it's near suicidal.)

If it's a good gun, it's a good gun. Try paying 80 for a Mossy 20g shotgun 2 round mag (you have to buy the entire gun just to get a spare mag, because spare mags for my shot gun are more rare than me searching up 30 year old Asahi mags from Japan for airsoft.

I understand expensive magazines and hard to find magazines. I honestly can't think of an HK magazine you can buy for less than $50 most of the time - maybe some of their pistol mags and that's it. It looks to be $3500 to $4000 to get into the MR762. If you want ten mags for it - a low but reasonable number - that is almost $1000 alone. Between the weight, the high start-up cost, the high mag cost and the certainly high parts cost, it is likely much easier to get into an LMT MRP, a LaRue or a SCAR17. The only gun in the same cost category is the KAC line - but then you could buy about 5 mags per HK mag...

You're kidding, right? You're not really spending that much money on airsoft, are you? Do you live somewhere where guns are illegal?

Well, that is a good thing for the Hungarians. Rest of the Europe, that I have seen, the going price for the gun is 2600-2800 Euros. That means in USD $3400-$3650. (magazines 85€ -> $110)

Considering there are probably some taxes involved in the US sales, I find the US prices reasonable. Nevermind that within a year or so they will only get lower.
