SWFA 1-6 x 24 HD
Looks like SWFA plans to release a 1-6 version of the SS HD. I tripped over the preview at Sniper's Hide, http://snipershide.com/forum/ubbthre...Number=3065155 . Does anybody here have any additional info other than what is included in their preview? It's not priced or shipped yet, with "Spring" being the predicted date. I'm just wondering if anybody who went to SHOT might have picked up any worthwhile info.

There's also an extensive thread over at Optics Talk (SWFA's forum).
This looks to be a very promising optic.

Looks to be a good alternative to the Leupold 1-6. I like the circle reticle that at 6x looks like a usable mil reticle. I think it will come down to reticle choice and illumination that will be the deciding factor for me. I've heard second hand that the SWFA scopes are built well. I do like the idea of the locking turrets on the Leupold since the reticle seems like you won't be dialing much. It may be a tough choice and depending on street price on both it may be even tougher.

This sounds interesting and if it had been available last year when I setup a new Recce rifle (had Rainier Arms build a custom rifle around a BCM barrel), I might have considered it.
What I actually went with last year, I've been thrilled with the overall quality and performance and feature. I got the Leupy Mk 4 1.5-5x SPR illum. model, it's been great. There are the known limitations of this optic (not a perfect 1.x for CQ--doesn't really bother me, and the illumination can get hard to see in really bright light--although the black etched glass reticle does great in bright sunlight). Still, these limitations have not bothered me much, it's possible the 1.5 on the low end would bother me if I were kicking in doors for a living, but in that case I'd probably switch to my other rifle that's set up with a T1. The Leupy is really excellent on a GP/Recce rifle that's useful for anything from CQ out to ranges of several hundred yards. I'm looking forward to trying out the Leupy this summer on the 5x setting at 500 yards or so, and see how it does. I'm sure the new SWFA, it it's anything like their other recent stuff, will be close to the Leupy in quality and features.
The Leupy and this new SWFA seem like two interesting entries in this class of newer scopes in the 1 to 5/6x magnification range, where the goal is a quality Recce-like optic that doesn't require an S&B price-level to get one.

I'm pretty excited about this.

Interesting, but I wonder about the weight. The Swarovski, while far more expensive than what this is likely to sell for, is <1 lb advertised weight and this thing is 1 lb 6 oz. according to the link.
The more I look at other optics, the more I appreciate what the Swarovski really is, and the more I hope Leupold gets it "right".

It looks very interesting. But following the lines of all the hyped optics that fell short recently, I will just say that the proof is in the pudding.

I plan to place an order for one once the FB discount code kicks in. I really like the 1-4 I have.

5000+ likes on FB. I'm going to snag at least one of these. Does anyone know if the optic is rated for heavier recoil than .308? This looks like just the thing for a medium dangerous game rifle in .375 or 9.3x62mm, if it'll hold up to the pounding.

Just ordered two. One for an AR, one for the 9.3x62mm African rifle I'm putting together. Should be just the ticket for both applications.

Are they shipping as the orders are received with the Facebook discount or are they treating it as a group buy and shipping them all at the same time on a certain date?
EDIT: Nevermind I see the end dates / availability dates now.

They're pre-orders, I believe they'll ship once they come online.
